PCM’s Kristyn had the chance to sit down with Universal Republic artist Richy Nix, following his incredible set at Rock on the Range! Nix is breaking on the radio with his debut single, “In My Head”. Richy Nix was able to get the day off to a rocking start, opening the show is never an easy task, however Richy Nix took to the stage and gave the crowd a much needed wake-up call, it was the best alarm clock for any true rock fan! Expect to see big things from Richy Nix, I can assure!

A little about Richy Nix:

Richy Nix would be the first to tell you his brand of hip hop-cropped alt-rock flows from a range of formative experiences tailor-made for fusing a unique sound both unifying and uplifting to others.

His first single, the scorching, keyboard-tinged anthem “In My Head” may emanate from those under the radar places, but somewhere in his gritty amalgam of street-tempered beats and rousing choruses – a soul-stirring river runs through it.  The Detroit River, that is, with the Windsor, Canada native having grown up on the Ontario side of the Detroit/Canada border in a town considered by locals to be another scalded suburb of Motor City.  Signed by Universal Republic Records, thanks to the self-propelled, Top Ten placement of “In My Head,” via Detroit’s popular Radio station 89X/88.7 FM Detroit/Windsor, Nix has just released his signature song nationally, backed by an acclaimed band and coveted status as Canada’s previously rated number one unsigned myspace artist.  Nix’s debut EP, “Note To Self” will be released this spring .

Kristyn was able to score some time to chat with Adelitas Way vocalist Rick DeJesus at Rock on the Range!  Rick discusses the band’s music, who they were excited to see at the festival, and how they somehow end up arrested in every state!

I Declare War has officially been signed as the fifth band to Artery Recordings, the new joint venture between The Artery Foundation and Razor & Tie. Founded in 2005, the death metal band is comprised of five guys in their 20s out of Seattle, Washington. On June 1st, their self-produced album Malevolence will be released!

While the band can definitely be described as heavy and aggressive, guitarist Evan Hughes states, “We have elements of a lot of different styles but keep things interesting by straying from sticking to a formula and not writing the same song 11 times.” The band agrees that Malevolence is their heaviest and most focused record to date. When discussing the album, Evan states, “The lyrics are based on a lot of what we think is corrupt in the world today – government, religion, and the self-inflicted downfall of humanity. The title reflects the overall feeling of the lyrics and a basic view of how we see the world today.”

During I Declare War’s first tour in 2007, the band happened to cross paths with well-known death metal band Whitechapel, and played what Evan calls “one of the worst shows both of us ever played.” The unfortunate show turned into a lasting friendship and one of the best things to happen to the band. When Alex Wade from Whitechapel was approached by Artery in regards to possible bands to sign, he suggested I Declare War, and so the relationship began. Artery and I Declare War are equally excited to begin working together. Evan says, “Being recognized by everyone at Artery is an honor and we’re really happy to have found a home with them. It’s been a long road to get to this point, but it really feels like our hard work is paying off.”

  Robyn – Body Talk Pt 1

Bio
The last time we heard from Robyn, it was 2008. The diminutive Swede was riding high after top ten hits with bittersweet, orchestral-pop hit Be Mine and anthemic dance ballad With Every Heartbeat. The latter song went to number 1 in the UK, shortly after the album Robyn was nominated for a Grammy. Not only did these feats provide a brilliant backdrop to the Platinum selling album from which they sprang, but the success of Robyn was the high point of a comeback which saw the one-time teen popstar reinventing her career on her own terms.

Kenny G – Heart and Soul

Multi-platinum selling, Grammy-winning recording artist Kenny G, will release his 13^th studio album entitled Heart and Soul June 29, 2010 on Concord Records.  Kenny and renowned studio master Walter Afanasieff (Christina Aguilera, Michael Bolton, Mariah Carey, Céline Dion, Whitney Houston, Mika, Barbra Streisand) produced and arranged the album, the follow-up to 2008’s Latin jazz collection Rhythm and Romance.
