Album Review: Buckcherry "Confessions"

Buckcherry2(PCM) Rockers Buckcherry have unleashed their new album “Confessions” today via Century Media Records and after giving it quite a few spins here at PCM headquarters I must confess that I am certainly digging this album.  “Confessions” is the bands sixth studio album and the album overall follows the underlying theme of the “Seven Deadly Sins”  touching on everything from “Gluttony” (the albums first single) to “Lust”, with a few other song gems thrown in for good measure.

What I have always enjoyed the most about Buckcherry’s music is the raw honesty that is put forth from this band and “Confessions” provides yet another, perhaps even deeper look into the inner psyche of this band. It is completely evident that singer Josh Todd puts his heart and soul into his vocals and his incredible emotional range, especially on “Confessions”, takes the listener on an very emotional journey through all the various themes presented on this album. Todd’s vocals paired up with the searing guitar riffs from Keith Nelson and Stevie D. complete the entire package and secure “Confessions” place as one of the best and most solid rock albums to be released so far this year.

Buckcherry are a band that seems to have perfected the formula for keeping their fan base and themselves satisfied at the same time. For fans looking for the hard-rocking party anthems “Confessions” provides a few with songs such as “Gluttony” and “Seven Ways To Die” and for those who enjoy the more emotional side of the band there are songs such as “The Truth” and “Dreamin’ Of You” that will certainly wet the appetite. One of my personal favorites from “Confessions” is actually “Pride” a groovy number that features a spoken word style vocal performance and proves the band is not afraid to experiment a little bit with their sound with a very successful outcome in this particular case.

To celebrate the release of their new album, the multi-platinum Los Angeles rock band–Josh Todd (vocals), Keith Nelson (guitar), Stevie D. (guitar), Jimmy Ashhurst (bass), Xavier Muriel (drums)–will headline three intimate hometown shows at The Viper Room in West Hollywood on March 7, 8 and 9. A limited number of tickets are still available at

A two-disc deluxe version of the Confessions CD is also available and features the bonus tracks “Give ‘Em What They Want” and “When The Fire Starts.” In addition, a bonus DVD includes the “Gluttony” music video and lyric video, behind the scenes footage and band interviews from the set of the “Gluttony” video shoot, and “The Story Behind Confessions” featurette. Confessions will also be released on vinyl in April.

Buckcherry is currently on the road supporting Kid Rock as special guests on the Rebel Soul tour through April 6, with additional worldwide tour plans to be announced soon. They will also be making festival appearances at both Rock On The Range and Carolina Rebellion coming this May!
