Last Chance to Vote for the American Music Awards

Microphone(PCM) The American Music Awards 2014 airs tonight, Sunday, November 23 on ABC, and since the AMAs are awarded based on public poll and music sales, there is still time to vote for your favorite nominees before 8/7c.

Dick Clark created the American Music Awards in 1973 in response to ABC losing the contract for the Grammy Awards, which are decided and awarded by the members of the Recording Academy.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of the American Music Awards and the first year that the Dick Clark Award for Excellence will be presented. Taylor Swift is receiving the award for her record breaking album sales; three of Swift’s albums, “Speak Now”, “Red” and “1989,” all sold over 1 million copies during their first week on sale.

This year’s American Music Awards features over 15 performances from some of today’s most popular artists, including 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Garth Brooks, Mary J. Blige, Charli XCX, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Jessie J, Lorde, MAGIC!, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Pitbull, Sam Smith, and Taylor Swift.

Iggy Azalea has the most nominations this year, including Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year (“Fancy”), Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop, and Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop (“The New Classic”).

Check out the full list of the nominees and get your vote in before the show airs live tonight, which you can live stream at abc.go.com if you’re not near a TV tonight at 8/7c. Just a heads up: you have to log in to Facebook to vote!
