Cynthia Lennon, First Wife Of John Lennon, Has Died At Age 75

(PCM) We are saddened to report that Cynthia Lennon, first wife of the legendary Beatle John Lennon, has passed away at the age of 75. Cynthia and John had one son together during their brief marriage from 1962 to 1968, 51-year old musician Julian Lennon.

Julian announced the news of his mother’s passing with a memorial on his website saying that his mother passed away at her home in Spain after a “short, but brave battle with cancer”. He went on to say that the family was thankful for everyone’s prayers and asked that they please respect their privacy during this difficult time.

It is reported that Julian was at his mother’s bedside when she passed. Yoko Ono also posted a tribute to Cynthia via social media which read “I am very saddened by Cynthia’s death. She was a great person and a wonderful mother to Julian. She had such a strong zest for life and I felt proud how we two women stood firm in the Beatles family. Please join me in sending love and support to Julian at this very sad time.”

Remaining Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney also released similar sentiments in regards to Cynthia’s passing calling her a “lovely woman” and a “great mother”. Cynthia grew up in Hoylake, England and attended Liverpool College of Art in 1957 which is where she met John Lennon after he tapped her on the back in class and simply said “Hi, I’m John”.

Our sincere condolences go out to Cynthia Lennon’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
