Michael Buble Stirs Up Controversy With Instagram Post

(PCM) Singer Michael Buble is in hot water and receiving a ton of criticism after he posted a picture of a woman’s bum on Instagram without her consent, along with several hashtags that many deemed derogatory.

The photo in question was apparently taken by Buble’s wife Luisa Lopilato while the pair were vacationing in Miami, Florida. The caption on the photo reads : “There was something about this photo Lu took that seemed worthy of Instagram” — in addition to a slew of hashtags like, “#myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #beautifulbum.”

While, it seemed that Buble may have actually been complimenting the woman, many online felt that he was body shaming and began to express their opinions online. Many were asking if he had permission from the woman to post the image and were curious if he would say what he hashtagged directly to the woman’s face.  Others, such as Refinery 29’s Elizabeth Keifer just found the posting to be downright sexist and creepy.

Buble should definitely have kept in mind that he is a public figure and therefore certainly under more scrutiny, than if a random person had posted the same image.

Thus far the photo has received over 40,000 likes and over 4,000 comments, but there has been no comment from Buble or his wife about the controversy.
