(PCM) Producer Kent Heckaman discovered vocalists Rachel Russell and Torey Russell in the summer of 2010 through studio manager Dusty Rose at Cue Recording in Falls Church, VA. Mr. Heckaman was impressed with the vocal abilities and harmonies that Rachel and Torey brought to the studio. The ladies describe their music as non-traditional folk with an indie sounding twist.
In 2012, Sonnet Cottage released Another Time, a record that earned lots of positive reviews and acclaim, including airplay on Sirius/XM. Another Time was a collection of incredible, rich harmonies and memorable acoustic songs.
Their second CD, titled Half Written Story, will be released in late June. The album will have 11 songs. Those gems feature incredible guitar playing and warm tones from Nashville-based Buddy Speir, an extraordinary musician in his own right.
This is a mature, intelligent, polished artist. Heckaman, the Russell sisters and Speir are creating something special and timeless. Fans of artists such as Fiona Apple, Daughter, Bon Iver and Feist should embrace Sonnet Cottage. I encourage you to visit the links below and learn more about their music and live performances.
