Former Stone Temple Pilots Frontman Scott Weiland Has Reportedly Been Found Dead

(PCM) Multiple sources are reporting that former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has been found dead on his tour bus in Hamel, MN. Weiland and his new band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts were in the midst of a North American tour with upcoming dates scheduled in Reno, NV on Dec. 18 and City Winery in Napa on Dec. 19.

Reports claim that Weiland was discovered to be unresponsive on his tour bus prior to the band’s show in Hamel. Weiland had just celebrated his 48th birthday on October 7th.

While his death has not yet been officially confirmed, musician Dave Navarro of the band Jane’s Addiction tweeted “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.” at 9:01pm PST.

His cause of death has not yet been reported, however it is well documented that the singer suffered a very lengthy battle with substance abuse. While we are very much wishing for this news to be untrue, our sincere condolences go out to Weiland’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
