Adele’s Video for ‘Hello’ is the Fastest to Hit 1 Billion Views on Vevo

(PCM) 2016 is off to a great start for English hitmaker Adele.

The singer-songwriter’s video for her break-up anthem of 2015, “Hello,” just earned the record for the fastest video to be viewed 1 billion times on Vevo, 88 days after the video’s release.

Vevo announced the news via Twitter on Monday (Jan. 18) shortly before Adele’s label, XL Recordings, also tweeted out the impressive stat.

Released on October 22, 2015, the video for “Hello” gained over 27.7 million views in just 24 hours, breaking the record for most views in a day previously set by the 20.1 million views Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video gained.

Within a week of its release, the video for “Hello” had over 100 million views on YouTube. Reports were coming out that “Hello” was being watched on YouTube at an average rate of 1 million times per hour.

“Hello” is off of Adele’s third album, 25, which spent 7 consecutive weeks in the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200. “Hello” was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks since its first appearance on the November 14th chart.
